Three Places

How the valley was made draws eleven stages across 1.1 billion years, and admits in its own source that the older the stage, the more of it is illustration between control points. This is the other half of that. Three places in this basin where the evidence is at the surface — a fault, a reef and a whale — and where a reader who does not want to take a cross-section on trust can go and stand on the thing itself.

Years before present, logarithmic. Two of these are separated by fifteen million years and sit almost on top of each other at this scale. The third is so recent that on a linear axis it would share a pixel with today.
